Lorem ipsum is the standard placeholder text used in typography, graphic design, and web development since the 1960s. When presenting a design before final content is available, using real words causes a specific problem: viewers read the words instead of evaluating the design. Lorem ipsum prevents this — its visual pattern mimics real text (varied word lengths, natural line breaks, realistic paragraph density) without conveying any meaning. Designers worldwide rely on it for wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and any design review where content is not yet final.
Paragraphs are the most common choice for body text areas — each paragraph is 4–6 sentences, simulating realistic content blocks. Use Words when you need to fill a specific word count or test how a text field handles various amounts of text. Use Sentences for UI elements like card descriptions, tooltips, or input placeholders where a single sentence of varied length is needed.
The "Start classic" option begins your generated text with "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit..." — the universally recognised opening that has appeared in design samples for over five decades. Disable this option if you want fully randomised text throughout.
