Why Add Page Numbers?

Page numbers are essential for any multi-page document that will be printed, referenced, or navigated, legal contracts, academic theses, business reports, and books all rely on them for citation and keeping printed pages in order. Many PDFs, especially merged ones, arrive without any numbering.

Choosing a Format

Simple sequential numbers work for most documents. "Page 1, Page 2" reads more formally and is common in business reports. "1 of N" helps readers gauge how much content remains. The dash format is a traditional print convention seen in books.

Starting Number

Set a custom starting number when this PDF is a continuation of a larger document, keeping numbering consistent with the rest of the document set.
