Why Watermark a PDF?

Watermarks serve several practical purposes: marking a document as a "DRAFT" before final approval, stamping "CONFIDENTIAL" on sensitive business documents, adding a company name to branded materials, or marking sample documents to prevent unauthorized redistribution as final files.

How This Tool Works

Using pdf-lib in your browser, this tool draws your chosen text directly onto every page of the PDF at the position, size, rotation, and opacity you specify, then re-saves the document. The watermark is embedded as real PDF content, remaining visible and correctly positioned in any PDF reader.

Choosing Effective Settings

A 25-35% opacity is typically the sweet spot, visible enough to serve its purpose without obscuring content. A 45-degree rotation is conventional since it reads clearly regardless of page orientation. For subtle branding, lower opacity and font size; for strong deterrent marking, keep opacity higher and use a bold larger font.
