How This Tool Works
Every YouTube video automatically gets a set of thumbnail images hosted at predictable, publicly accessible URLs on YouTube's own image servers (img.youtube.com). This tool extracts the video ID from the URL you paste and constructs direct links to each available thumbnail resolution — no scraping, no API key, and no data is uploaded anywhere. Your browser fetches the image directly from YouTube's servers.
Available Thumbnail Resolutions
- Max HD (1280×720): Only available if the video uploader provided a high-resolution thumbnail — most videos uploaded after 2015 have this.
- Standard (640×480): A near-square legacy resolution, available on most videos.
- High Quality (480×360): Available on virtually all YouTube videos regardless of age.
- Medium Quality (320×180): Widescreen thumbnail, used in video grids and search results.
- Default (120×90): The smallest size, used in old embeds and legacy players.
